Danny Thomas was elected to Commandant Marine Corps League Department of Oklahoma June 12, 2022. He was reelected June 11, 2023. My first experience with the Marine Corps League (MCL) began while assigned to RSS Centralia, Illinois, RS St. Louis, 9th Marine Corps Recruiting District. Marine Scott Thompson, WWII Combat Veteran who fought the Battle of Peleiu. He often talked about the Mariana and Palau Islands campaign in the Pacific Theater. Scott was determined to charter a detachment in our recruiting area. I was honored to be a charter member of the South Central Illinois. Mt. Vernon, IL. During my recruiting tour my first experience with Toys For Tots got me hooked. I have been a T4T volunteer since that time. My 25 years service included Marine Barracks, 1st ANGLICO, Naval Amphibious School Coronado and numerous recruiting assignments in the 6th, 8th, and 12th Prior Service Recruiting Regions. My service continues with the MCL, American Legion, Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association and Fleet Naval Reserve.
